Every Dog's Dream Rescue ...
.....Where we make Every Dog's Dream Come True!
Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her. I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn't be afraid.
As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage. I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been walked today. Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn't want her to think poorly of them.
As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in someone's life.
She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me. I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her. Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship.
A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms. I would promise to keep her safe. I would promise to always be by her side. I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes. I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor. So many more are out there who haven't walked the corridors. So many more to be saved. At least I could save one.
I rescued a human today.....
Landon is one cool pup. What is not to love about this guy! He does the doggie dip and will bark at you to get your attention, when you walk near him he will run and then come back to you looking for more fun! Landon is around 6 months old, doing great with house training and loves all dogs and puppies of all ages. Would do best in a fenced in yard. A great pup for any family Write to audwoerter @yahoo.com for an application
Mia - super sweet and great with dogs!
Our rescue received a call from Catholic Charaties last week. A gentleman had to surrender his dog because he was going into a housing development that could not take his dogs. Mia was found with the worst case of fleas ever. This poor girl also looks to have been bred several times throught her young life. Miss Mia is good with other dogs and adores people. She would make a great dog for any family. Please don't let the fact that she is a pitbull terrier scare you away. These are the best dogs ever and can provide a family with so much love. Mia has been spayed and is now current on her vaccinations!
Meet Bart! A handsome young shep mix that has joined our rescue. He is a little shy at the moment but is really coming out of his shell! He loves other dogs and is doing great with everyone he meets. He does take his time coming to you but when he does, he melts into you side and just loves attention.
Fully vetted and ready for adoption! No young children and a fenced in yard required for Bart!
Mikey may be small ( 10 pounds), but he packs a big punch- of personality that is. He is approximately 3 years old, and was recently released from dog control after being picked up as a stray. He has had all vaccines and been neutered. He has made huge gains in the housetraining process, and can be trusted loose in the house with supervision. ( No "marking' in the past 2 weeks). He is fine with being in a crate when unsupervised, but I don't see that as a long term situation. He likes to follow people around, and cuddle up close on the couch at night. He is very people and kid oriented. He likes everyone he meets.
I have arrived at the rescue! I am a border collie/lab mix. Some of the siblings in my pack have short stub tails and a couple have 3/4 inch tails and one with a full length tail. We are around 3 1/2 months old and have all been neutered. Yes, me and my pack are all boys. We are a fun loving group of puppies. We do your typical puppy jumping, nibbling and of course, puppy accidents, but we are getting better with this. We have been wormed several times and now we are ready to go! We would prefer families with children over the age of 8 because we are still playing our ' puppy role' and can be jumpy and nippy.
We are funded on donations only! Please support our rescue. We take in many special needs and the cost to care for them increases every day. We need your help. Even if it is $5.00, it will all add up to help care for the dogs that come in the leg issues, puppies with mange, etc. You can mail your check to: Every Dog's Dream Rescue, Inc., 1270 State Highway 206, Greene, NY 13778 Thank you!
